Today, chrome plating is delivered by the application of hexavalent chromium in a process that creates environmentally hazardous by-products.  The automobile industry and others are under increasing pressure from the EPA, OSHA and the EU to decrease or eliminate the use of hexavalent chromium. Hexavalent chromium is a human carcinogen and is listed as a hazardous air pollutant.

The OEX-chosen PVD process is 100% environmentally friendly. It uses no hazardous materials, produces no hazardous waste and even goes as far as to pull contaminates from the air upon entering the facility.
